F9: Fast and Furious - MOVIE REVIEW
By: T.K
It’s time I give a review about one of my favorite franchises in the movie industry. That is the Fast and Furious Franchise. I could talk and rant on how this franchise became a part of the black culture and other cultures but I wasn’t hired to do that and it gets boring sometimes. So this review is about the latest installment to the franchise, “F9”.
ALSO PLEASE NOTE THIS HAS SPOILERS! SO VIEWERS DESCRETION IS ADVISED.
Honestly....
We should be glad the writers and director finally gave us a little bit of Dom’s backstory because my first impression when I saw the cool action trailers I was very confused as a Fast and Furious stan. Anyways! After a hostile takeover with a plane the group receive an alarming video and it is a mission for them. The night before the mission starts, Dom sees a familiar piece of jewelry and realizes it is his younger brother Jakob played by John Cena, who in our heads just appears like a random sim in your game, but really he was forced to disappear after him and Dom race. John Cena did an amazing job playing his role. He really is giving The Rock a run for his money with the WWE wrestler turned successful actor career but then again John Cena had us as kids thinking we couldn’t see him when he wrestled. CUE THE ACTION AND THE ENDLESS FIGHTS BETWEEN JOHN CENA AND VIN DIESEL!!
Meanwhile...
The story of Han surviving a crazy car crash in the middle of Tokyo is very weird because huh? How? Who the hell actually drove the car and how did you escape quickly, but that answer I will not spoil for you because you might catch hands with me when I tell you how crazy it is. Also, Cardi B making a grand appearance being the baddie she is and how she runs a whole security organization. Still trying to figure out how her character and Dom met but she did well.
IN Conclusion…
Overall, this film makes up for the lack of the 8th installment storyline “The Fate of the Furious.” That movie was really disappointing and lacked what I needed. Another review for another day. The CGI and the stunts continue to improve and become extreme. The movie gave us their annual theme, FAMILY. They literally brought back everybody and their mama who played in any Fast and Furious movies who was available to shoot. Including a little tribute to the late and great Paul Walker due to his character Brian, is technically still alive, but just a stay at home dad. Made me happy to see his blue Nissan Skyline GT-R (I told y'all I’m a real fan) pulled up to the house. Also can we appreciate Tyrese and Ludacris for giving us the comedic relief we need when times get boring? Having the check ins when they are in space while everybody is slingin and blowing up cars on earth was nice.
