đź’ż: YOUNG AGAINST THE WORLD - ALBUM REVIEW

By: Ty McDuffey

FIRST THINGS FIRST…

Young Gittyman is one of Kansas City’s hardest up & coming rappers. Banned from Distrokid for “editorial discretion” and recently recovered from a wild motorbike accident that shattered his arm & leg, the 19-year-old rapper released his project “Young Against the World” over the summer. The 13-track album sees production by Kansas City producer MyHero and features fellow budding Kansas City artists Jace* and CA$H Cam. Many of the hi-hats and kicks heard on “Young Against the World” feature a signature mid-west and Detroit-style bounce. Gittyman is usually found wearing his signature “Young” chain with watches and bracelets on both wrists. Despite his youth, Gittyman has an impressively entrepreneurial mindset. Gittyman plans to effectively engage in cannabis production, management, and cultivation by obtaining a degree in Cannabis Studies from Northwest Missouri State University. He is fond of photoshoots and aspires to appear in a film or TV show in the future. His musical inspirations include Chavo, Peso Peso, & Kanye West.

STANDOUT TRACK: “Fishin” (feat. Jace* & CA$H CAM)

The second track on the album is immediately ear-grabbing thanks to loud 808’s with choppy hi-hats and a catchy string and flute loop. The three Kansas City rappers trade distinct bars and display their bravado over the MyHero produced beat.
