Last week, We saw Lawerence try to balance fatherhood. This week was a big week for us who are Team Nathan. We also get reminded why Issa is Issa haha.
“It’s niggas in bulk out here! Like Costco!”
Issa, Molly, and Kelli attend Nathan’s barber event on the beach. The girls discuss Molly being “open for business” and wanting to have good sex with someone who knows what they’re doing. Issa is feeling awkward about crying in front of Nathan when they tried to make out and worries that things are weird between them now since they haven’t talked about it since. While at the beach, Issa is dealing with Crenshawn on Twitter calling her a sell out.
When Issa talks to Nathan on the beach, it’s awkward asf. They don’t discuss anything important, and Nathan walks away, convincing Issa that he’s mad at her. Meanwhile, Kelli and Molly are looking for prospects on the beach, and Nathan’s cute friend invites them to play spades. Which Issa reminds us there’s a lot of us who can’t play spades and our friends refuse to teach us. Then boom an earthquake saves the day and they have to evacuate the beach. Nathan invites everybody to the bar down the road.
“We gonna need some more taquitos”
At the bar, Nathan brings Issa a shot. After taking it, she asks him why did he leave when she was crying, and he says he didn’t know they had expectations for each other. He apologizes for kissing her, and she apologizes for asking him to spend the night. Nathan’s cousin Thomas and his wife Velma show up. We instantly see Velma and Nathan have some type of relationship, and she low key shades him later on at the table. In her own awkward way of course, Issa sticks up for him and shares how he helped her settle down and figure her stuff out. It’s clear Nathan appreciates it, but we also get to see how Nathan’s friends treat Nathan’s mental health. While everything is going on and Nathan’s friend gets invited to a Jason Derulo party, we see Kelli and Resha, Nathan’s co worker, are in an emotional breakthrough while eating taquitos.

At Jason Derulo’s mansion party, We find out the singer was apparently doing “close up magic”. After only Molly & her beau are able to get in, the group begins to splinter, allowing Nathan to catch up with his cousin for the first time in years and for us to get some tea! Molly finds a way for the rest of the group to get in, but Thomas decides to go home. It turns out when Nathan was staying with Thomas, Velma kicked him out with no place to go, that’s how he ended up living with Andrew. Thomas tells Nathan it isn’t Velma who kicked him out, it was Thomas. After the talk, Nathan tells Issa he needs a minute.
Issa being a good friend, she follows him and Nathan opens up about being manic when he lived with Thomas and Velma, but not knowing how he had Bipolar disorder at the time. She opens up about her feelings towards Nathan. Nathan agrees and they share a kiss on the hills with a small earthquake.
Another good episode in the books. I’m glad we got to know Nathan a little bit more and Team Nathan takes a W!
