Fuse 6 | Scenes From The Weekend
Written by: Andres Nelso
The best way to describe the 6th Installment of Fuse: “a moment”. When you have a lineup like Fuse 6, there’s really no way to lose. With each artist pulling in their respective crowds to the venue, the event was a hit as soon as the poster was released on social media. The Line up included Shun Ann, Zarin Micheal, A’Sean, Gee Watts, Southside Dame, Kye Colors, & D-Walk; that’s like the KC Rap Avengers.
Fuse 6 was the second of two shows that I attended Saturday night. (To read about the first event, Click here.) If you weren’t able to pop up to this event you truly missed out. Shout out to Betterdaize , one of the vendors that set shop prior to the performances.
“My first show was a Fearless show way back when, so to be performing here in front of yaw is a major full circle moment” - Kye Colors
What I really liked about the show is that all the artists were extremely aware. They knew what songs to play to interact with the crowd and everything felt so communal. My nostalgic self might be speaking when I say this, but this show reminded me of the early days of #sabermag; I’m sick that I didn’t get more footage.
Although the show was practically perfect, it would be nice to have a bit representation from the women. Kansas City has so much creative talent and there are tons of women all over the metro who I know would’ve made a great addition to the set. There were a few hiccups, like people talking the mic when they shouldn’t have. All in all Fuse 6 was great.
Nights like this make me want more. I love Kansas City but we NEED more; we deserve more. Fuse 6 and events like it should be championed and broadcasted to the world. I’d like to end on this: if June 4th was a preview of what this summer has to offer…
then Kansas City is in a good spot.
